About Trader Joe
Trader Joe is Avalanche's homegrown DEX champion, pioneering the Liquidity Book model that provides zero-slippage swaps within discrete price bins. Launched in June 2021, this innovation offers superior capital efficiency compared to traditional AMMs. The V2.1 Liquidity Book introduced surge pricing for volatile conditions and auto-pools for passive LPs. Beyond swapping, Trader Joe offers lending through Banker Joe, an NFT marketplace called Joepegs, and Rocket Joe launchpad. The platform has expanded to Arbitrum and BNB Chain while maintaining Avalanche leadership.

How Trader Joe Works
Trader Joe pioneered the Liquidity Book (LB) model, dividing price ranges into discrete 'bins.' Each bin represents a specific price point, and liquidity is concentrated in these bins. When a trade occurs within a bin, there's zero slippage—you get the exact bin price. This creates a hybrid between AMM and order book efficiency. The V2.1 upgrade added surge pricing that increases fees during volatile periods (protecting LPs) and Auto-Pools that automatically manage bin positions for passive LPs who don't want to actively rebalance.
